Everyone has a hero. Many heroes are found working behind the scenes, doing the thankless work that keeps our communities going. Whether it be a mother, pastor, teacher, service member, or friend, a hero sacrifices time and talents for the betterment of those around him or her. People like this are the backbones of society.
Mountain Laurel Chalets is proudly sponsoring a new campaign called “Hometown Heroes.” This program allows us the opportunity to recognize heroes from all across the country that embody MLC’s core values.

Each of our hometown heroes embodies our core values and is nominated by someone who sees the way they love and serve others each day. Selected by our team, winners are awarded a complimentary three-night stay at one of our beautiful chalets. He or she will receive a true hero's welcome along with exciting giveaways and opportunities for unique activities only Gatlinburg can offer.
Our second hometown hero is Kyle Kilby of Walton, Kentucky. Kyle is a father of four children, the youngest of which has special needs. He works three jobs as a first responder while also making it his top priority to be available to his family. He demonstrates all three of our core values in his everyday life as a father and first responder.
Kyle demonstrates what it looks like to be a generous steward by organizing classes for other first responders that teach them how to interact with children who have special needs in emergency scenarios. Through this initiative, he has been able to equip fellow
first responders with the ability to understand and care for those who are differently abled in the midst of an emergency.
Kyle’s dedication to his family despite working three jobs shows that he upholds our core value that family matters. The way he tirelessly serves his family and his community by giving of his time and talents beyond what might be required embodies what it means to exceed expectations.
