The Great Smoky Mountains National Park's official gateway community is
Gatlinburg, a charming mountain village nestled in a small valley beside the fast-flowing Little Pigeon River. Gatlinburg is home to the world-renowned Arrowmont
School of Arts and Crafts and the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, North America's most prolific art colony. The streets are lined with charming shops, galleries and world-class dining options.
The city's attractions include: Ripley's Believe It or Not! and Guinness World Records museums, the Gatlinburg Aquarium, Christus Gardens, a religious artifacts museum, Fun Mountain amusement park, Sweet Fanny Adams vaudeville theatre and the world's longest aerial
tram to a complete wintertime ski resort, Ober Gatlinburg. For the more adventuresome, Gatlinburg also features several outdoor expedition companies, white water rafting establishments and
fishing experts. They don't call this city "the heart of the Smokies" for nothing.
Pigeon Forge and Sevierville are also popular destinations, mere minutes
away. Visitors can spend days exploring Dollywood, hunting for bargains at over 200 outlet stores or taking in one of the area's multiple musical
productions, including Louise Mandrell in person!
Whether it's a week long family vacation or a romantic getaway weekend, you'll find that Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains are just what you've been
looking for.
