Twice each year, talented artisans and craftsmen from all corners of the country gather in Gatlinburg to showcase their unique creations. The Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair, hosted at the sprawling 150,000 sq/ft Gatlinburg Convention Center, draws upwards of 25,000 guests every July and October, and for good reason: not only do you get to shop until you drop, but you also get to see these incredibly talented artists in action, demonstrating their crafts right before your eyes. Each participant has undergone a rigorous jury process to guarantee the quality and uniqueness of their products, and every item is handmade, ensuring an array of truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
From wood carvings and metal work to gourmet nut butters and homemade bath and beauty products, the Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair has something for everyone! Check out hand-woven hammock chairs and hand-carved dulcimers. Enjoy a wide variety of edible items, including jellies, honeys, and BBQ rubs. Looking for Christmas decor or children's playhouses? Look no further! It's the perfect place to stock up on unique gifts for those you love (and maybe a few for yourself, too)!
The Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair is not just for adults! The July event offers a Kids Corner, providing a hands-on outlet for children (and the young at heart!) to create their own unique masterpieces. Sponsored by the GCF and Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries, kids can participate in a variety of sand art and painting projects, aimed at teaching them some of the basics of craftsmanship. They'll have a blast, and they can take their creations home with them for keeps!
The Gatlinburg Craftsmen's Fair is really so much more than a simple arts and crafts event! If you tire of shopping, get yourself settled in near the stage where you'll enjoy country, bluegrass, and gospel music daily at 12pm and 3pm. The best musicians in Tennessee gather together to bring incredible live entertainment to the venue each day, creating a fun and lively atmosphere that reinforces why Appalachian culture is so special.
This inspiring bi-annual event is worth a visit to the Smokies. It provides an authentic Appalachian experience that's unique to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, and an affordable way to enjoy southern culture, incredible handiwork, and a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Tickets are only $10/person, and children 17 and under enter for free with paid adults. Multi-day passes are complimentary, and all live music and Kids Corner activities are included with each ticket purchased.
As always, we're proud to provide a limited-edition lodging experience for guests as they explore the Smokies, and we'd be honored to help you find a cabin rental to enjoy during your time in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
