TOP THINGS TO DO IN PIGEON FORGE IN THE WINTER

If you're looking for a winter escape with a touch of Southern charm, Pigeon Forge is calling your name. Whether you're sipping hot cocoa by the fire or enjoying the twinkling lights around town, Pigeon Forge is a winter wonderland with endless activities for you to choose from.

Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights

Looking for a festive and wintery light show? From November 7, 2024 to February 16, 2025, guests can embark on an adventure through Pigeon Forge at the Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights. Hop in the car, turn on your favorite holiday tunes, and experience dazzling lights around town. This year, there will be a 12 Days of Christmas display, as well as several light-covered bridges and a Fairytale Fantasy display. Go on a self-guided tour with the family, or take a guided Winterfest tour to experience the magic.

Hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Pigeon Forge is only about 5 miles from the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, making it an ideal base for exploring the incredibly sights here. And the park is open year-round! Bundle up and explore the beautiful outdoors by hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Frozen waterfalls and stunning mountain views—what more could you ask for? Two popular winter hiking trails to add to your list are Laurel Falls and Porter’s Creek Trail. Laurel Falls is a 2.3-mile roundtrip hike that takes you to a mesmerizing tiered waterfall, while Porter’s Creek Trail is a 4-mile roundtrip hike where you’ll find the historic John Messer cabin and a 60-ft. waterfall.

If you’re planning a winter hike, make sure to check road conditions, pack proper winter gear like warm layers, hat, gloves, and stablizers for your shoes, and start your hike well before the sun goes down.

Pigeon Forge Holiday-Themed Shows

Several holiday shows will run throughout the winter as part of Pigeon Forge's Winterfest celebration, so buckle up for a ton of laughs and great entertainment! Take a nostalgic holiday trip with "Christmas at Dolly Parton’s Stampede" while you dine on a four-course meal. Or, for a chaotically good time, the Hatfield and McCoy Christmas Disaster will have you laughing until your stomach hurts.

Shopping

Did someone say shopping? Whether you’re picking up a souvenir to take back from your Pigeon Forge vacation or on the hunt for the perfect gift for a family or friend, Pigeon Forge offers many opportunities to shop until you drop. The Island at Pigeon Forge is one of Pigeon Forge’s most popular shopping centers with retailers, boutique shops, restaurants, rides, and attractions. Mountain Mile & Tower Shops is another well-known shopping center that includes the Mountain Mile General Store.
